Play Matters was founded in 2016 by a passionate father and Civil Engineer B.Sc. Starting as a small enterprise, Play Matters has since completed playgrounds in Addis Ababa and Hawassa, including for schools, kindergartens and daycare centers as well as private houses, for children with and without disabilities. Play Matters also cooperated with NGOs, European playground companies, EthiopiaSkate, and others.
Today Play Matters is a team of dedicated engineers, carpenters, masons, gardeners, welders and education professionals, bringing together skills and ideas for each playground we build. And always at least a handful of children for inspiration and quality control 😉

Growing up in Addis Ababa, his fondest childhood memories where related to play – the passion, engagement with other kids, how you forget space and time while getting dirty! Watching his children enjoy and seeing how they grow and developed through different play opportunities, a passion for play developed.
